Altering Futures and Queering Realities

2020, Immersive Installations Featuring Three Channel Projected Animation, 18’x22’x10’

Altering Futures & Queering Realities is like reaching the top of a mountain - it's a sacred place to consider one's position in the collective whole. The instillation is exploring ideas of the unknowable, and elicit wonder in the viewer. With this work I was considering moments of wonder, romance, and intimacy with space-time.

Transitions and Displacement

2019, Projection-Mapped Animation Over Digital Print, 50”x70”

The animation is fast-paced and leaves the viewer with the feeling of destabilization. It is also difficult to discern between the projected and the printed image. This piece explores an aspect of existing as a queer individual. The ribbon form moves in and out of focus, oscillating between clarity and obscurity. This revealing and concealing of the image allude to the performative aspects of being queer – the act of coming out or having to pass as heteronormative.

Positioning Our Potentiality to the Infinite

2020, Projection-Mapped, Animation Over Cut Vinyl, Still, 7’x10’

This piece is made using matte and mirrored cut vinyl adhered to the floor with animation projected onto the surface. In this galaxy that is the gallery, this piece acts as a platform to a portal. Like the transporters from Star Trek: Voyager or the Alpha Gate from Stargate SGI. This piece acts as a transportive moment in the exhibition and it is the last moment before entering into the ‘unknown’. This is a pivotal moment in the exhibition and as you step into the next stage of the work, the viewer becomes a participant.
